Being happy at work is important, especially if you are dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis. This is why as a taxi driver you must have great interpersonal skills, being a friendly ear, professional driver as well as a fountain of city knowledge. Being an infamously fast paced job we at High Gear wanted to learn more about the taxi drivers of the UK, creating a survey that tested the happiness levels of our customers and drivers alike. Using the following questions we asked taxi passengers of all cities to rate their drivers’ happiness levels from 1 to 10:

• How happy are your drivers when you ask them for a price before the fair?
• How happy are the taxi rank operators when on the phone?
• How courteous are your drivers?
• How chatty are your drivers?
• How welcome do you feel when inside a taxi?

The results showed that the following cities employ the cheeriest taxi drivers, listed below in order of happiness.

• London
• Cardiff
• Norwich
• Bristol
• Edinburgh
