Insurance giant Direct Line has launched a brand new home insurance policy aimed at customers who run a company or business from their home address. The policy will take into account features specific to a home which is also the base for a business. To mark the launch of the new package policy, Direct Line are offering customers who take up the policy a 25% discount on the cost of an annual home insurance policy. The new policy will provide cover for stock which may be stored at the home, also office furniture and other equipment linked to the business up to the value of £75,000. As well as this, the Direct Line cover will insure against liability for injury to the public and damage to the premises up to £2 million. Another feature which will be of interest to home workers is the cover’s policy on loss of earnings. Should the premises become damaged or destroyed due to fire or flooding, the policyholder will be covered for loss of earnings up to the value of £50,000. All of these features can be tailored to meet the individual’s needs. Running a business from home is becoming an increasingly popular choice as it allows overhead costs to be kept to a minimum, when compared to keeping a separate business premises up and running.
