A recent survey which analysed the insurance quote details from a leading price comparison website over the course of the last year found that the Vauxhall Corsa was the most searched for vehicle. Next in line in the popularity stakes was the Ford Fiesta, followed by the Volkswagen Golf, and the Renault Clio. The trend for smaller and more economical cars as opposed to gas guzzling 4 x 4 vehicles is a direct reaction to the rising costs of fuel and also insurance premiums motoring experts believe. The survey also found that the most searched for engine size was a 1.6 which shows yet again that Brits are turning their backs on high powered cars in order to help keep the cost of motoring as low as possible. Insurance premiums have been rising year on year in the UK with motorists seeing on average a rise of 33% in the cost of their insurance cover this year as compared to the last. Factors such as engine size and the make and model of a vehicle all have an impact on the cost of insurance, which is why so many drivers are now opting for less powerful and more economical cars.
