The feeling you get when you pass your practical driving test is truly immense; with the open road at your disposal anything seems possible. Although passing your test permits you to drive it also has symbolic meaning, giving you feelings of both pride and freedom. These emotions can be greatly undercut when looking to insure your first car, with prices quoted for young driver insurance infamously high. At Lady Motor we thought we would look into the top 5 cheapest cars to insure for young drivers, giving the newly qualified an idea of the options available to them. The biggest thing to consider when choosing your first car is what the car’s features say about you and your attitude towards driving. If you car is fitted with an incredible alarm system and a small eco engine then you may not present yourself as much of a risk than a 17 year old driving a supercar. The cheapest cars to insure for under 25’s:

• Citroen C1 £928
• Toyota Aygo - £970
• Kia Picanto - £955
• Fiat 500 -£912

Although the above cars are the cheapest to insurance they are surprisingly not the most popular vehicle choices for new drivers. The most popular car options for under 25’s are: 

• Vauxhall Corsa -£1,304
• Ford Fiesta  - £1,266
• Renault Clio - £1.248
• Volkswagen Golf - £1,702
• Vauxhall Astra - £1,402

It seems that although new drivers are passionate about receiving competitive rates for car insurance they are not opting to drive the cars that will encourage that, with vehicle selection being at the forefront of their mission when being issued a license.
